Established 1993

Revised 1995

Revised 2002

1.The Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists (JSPP) established the JSPP Young Investigator Award and the JSPP Plant and Cell Physiology Award for the Paper of Excellence (PCP Award) to encourage research in the fields of plant science by young researchers and to promote plant science research through the publication of outstanding papers.

2.The Young Investigator Award is conferred upon persons who have published outstanding research with international significance in the fields of plant sciences such as plant physiology, plant biochemistry, plant molecular biology, and plant cell biology, and who are expected to continue to develop as researchers in the future.

3.Young Investigator Award recipients must be under the age of 40 as of April 1 in the year in which the award is to be conferred and may be of any nationality. The major part of the research submitted for award consideration should have been conducted in Japan or should have been presented at a JSPP Annual Meeting or symposium or published in Plant and Cell Physiology.

4.The PCP Award is conferred upon persons who have published a creative and internationally significant paper that contributes to the advancement of plant science in Plant and Cell Physiology.

5.PCP Award Recipients may be of any age and nationality, but the paper submitted for award consideration must have appeared as a single article or series of articles in Plant and Cell Physiology no earlier than two years prior to the year in which the award is to be conferred.

6.Recipients of the Young Investigator Award will be selected from candidates who nominate themselves or are nominated at the recommendation of a JSPP member. Candidates must submit the designated application and materials to JSPP headquarters by the specified date in October of every year. The recipient of the Young Investigator Award will submit a summary of their research or article for publication in Plant and Cell Physiology.

9.The prize money will be provided from the general account budget.
